GeoDirectory Q4 2011 Update
This blog deals with the Q4 2011 update of GeoDirectory.
OPENING THE BOX...
The ADDRESS_MODEL_CHANGES table has 36,493 records, compared to 205,957 records in Q3 2011. For our purposes, we ignore the table and don't import it.
There aren't any real surprises with this release, no new tables or additional LOCALITY_TYPES or BUILDING_GROUP_TYPES. No new columns on the tables.
INSPECTING INDIVIDUAL TABLES
Let's now look at the main tables in GeoDirectory.
5,389 new address points, 2,445 of these are organisations. The random new organisation chosen for this quarter's blog is
|THE DOG HOUSE||DISTILLERY ROAD||WEXFORD|
There are 3,160 Organisation names that have changed. Some of these changes are because a different business is operating at the location, others are just simple changes to the name. Both types are illustrated below:
|DEPUTY JOAN COLLINS T.D.||RADAK SDRAND|
|CAR WASH & VALETING SERVICE||CAR WASH & VALETING SERVIICE|
|BRADBURY FITTED FURNITURE||BRADBURY KITCHENS|
|COLT TECHNOLOGY SERVICES||COLT TELECOM|
|DANNY'S FRUIT & VEG||HORAN'S FRUIT & VEG|
Unfortunately the Small Areas data is still blank. There are 1,795 new buildings, and 751 buildings that have been maked as "INVALID". Next we check for buildings that have updated coordinates. There are 6,463 buildings whose location has changed. Of these, 630 are less than 5 metres from their previous location, and 2,525 are less than 20 metres. The maximum movement is 1.2km.
37 Building Groups have been removed, and 118 have been added.
163 Localities have been removed, and 64 have been added. This indicates a lower level of clean-up of Localities compared to the last quarter.
There is 1 new town, as shown below. No towns have been removed.
It would be useful to see an end to "discovering" new towns every GeoDirectory release, and a comprehensive approach to LOCALITIES clean-up would be welcomed. No issues of major concern, see you next quarter.
